Baseball Opens 2024 with Rain and a Split

The Edmonds College baseball team, ranked No. 7 in the NWAC Coaches Poll, had mixed results to open 2024 this past weekend. The team's first doubleheader versus Lane CC was halted due to rain after leading the Titans 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

Edmonds then traveled south to Umpqua CC where they split a twinbill, losing the opener 1-0 in 10 innings, before rebounding with a 4-0 victory in 7 innings in the nightcap.

Both teams managed just three hits in the first game, with the Tritons losing on a walk-off balk in extra innings. Cole Murawski did most of the offensive damage in game two, driving in three runs with a bases-loaded triple in the sixth. Will Franklin (1-0) picked up the win with five innings of work, allowing just two hits. Lathan Haywood shut the door with two strong frames of relief.

The Tritons (1-1) host Grays Harbor College for four games this Satuday and Sunday at Triton Field. Gate admission is $7, but all students, staff, and faculty are free with a current EdPass.
