Edmonds Baseball Splits Series With SVC

The Tritons and Cardinals split their four-game North Region series over the weekend. Edmonds dropped the opening game of the series, 5-3, Saturday in Mount Vernon, but would claim the next two, winning 11-3 in Saturday's nightcap, and then Sunday's opening game in Lynnwood, 4-1, before falling in the finale 6-5.

With the split, the Tritons are now 16-13 overall, 7-5 North.

Levi Joyce led the EC offense in game two, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and 3 RBI. Outfielder Logan Blank added three hits and two runs scored as the Tritons took advantage of six Cardinal errors to cruise to the win.

Will Franklin hurled eight frames to open up Sunday's twinbill, allowing no runs on five hits. Blank led the offense with three hits and two runs scored.

The series finale looked to be in the Tritons' control with the hometeam holding a 5-1 lead after seven innings but SVC pushed across three runs in the eighth and two more in the top of the ninth. Edmonds failed to answer in the home half of the frame.

Blank was the offensive star of the game for Edmonds, banging out another four hits and driving in a pair of runs. Blank finished with 11 hits over the four-game set.

Lathan Haywood started for EC, lasting seven innings in which he yielded just one run on one hit.

Edmonds takes a few days off before hosting Douglas College for a scrimmage doubleheader on Sunday, April 21. First pitch is slated for 1 pm.
