Tritons sink Pirates in PA, 69-58
PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Edmonds College (11-8, 2-2) secured a 69-58 victory over Peninsula College (2-17, 1-3) on Saturday at Peninsula College. The Tritons capitalized on turnovers, scoring 21 points off Peninsula's 17 turnovers to maintain their lead.
Edmonds started strong, taking an early 4-0 lead with Avidan West's jumper at 18:09. They maintained momentum with Sebastian Cooper's layup at 17:44, extending their advantage. The visitors capitalized on free throws late in the half, with Hunter White converting two free throws at 3:22 to push the lead to 10 points, the largest of the half. Despite Peninsula's attempts to close the gap, the Tritons held a 30-24 lead at the end of the first half.
Edmonds established a commanding lead in the second half with a 15–5 advantage in points off turnovers. Key plays included Sebastian Cooper's layup at 17:39, assisted by Isaiah Lopez, and Sam Lockhart's 3-pointer at 5:37, assisted by Romeo Webber. The Tritons maintained control with effective rebounding, totaling 16 boards in the half, and built an 18-point lead at 5:37. The game concluded with Edmonds ahead 69–58.
Sam Lockhart scored 14 points, including three 3-pointers, and added one steal. Cooper contributed with 10 points and five steals, demonstrating defensive strength. Webber also scored 10 points and recorded two blocks and two steals. West added 10 points and collected two rebounds.
Edmonds hosts Whatcom (6-11, 3-1) in Seaview Gym at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. It will be "Triton Day" as elementary school students will be in attendance to support the squad.
