Trojans run away from Triton men in second half

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Edmonds College was defeated by Everett 7-0 on Wednesday at Triton Field.

The first half began with both teams establishing their presence on the field. Edmonds College generated early opportunities with two corner kicks taken by Angel Jimenez at the 12th and 26th minutes, though they were unable to convert these chances into goals. Jack Neumeyer made critical saves against Everett's attempts, including stops in the 12th and 38th minutes, keeping the game level for most of the half.

Everett eventually broke through in the 44th minute when Alhagie Ceesay scored the half's only goal, assisted by Matthew Bereket, giving them a 1-0 lead. The half ended with the Tritons trailing by a single goal, setting the stage for a competitive second half.

The second half began with a quick goal by Everett's Lunden Fenster in the 47th minute, extending their lead. Edmonds struggled to find their rhythm, facing another goal just six minutes later from the same player, assisted by Ceesay.

Everett continued to apply pressure, adding two more goals, including one by Cody Duncan in the 59th minute. Although the Tritons' goalkeeper Neumeyer made a notable save against Anthony Henry, the opposition's scoring run was relentless with Nathan McKenzie and Ilya Mohov each finding the net later in the half.

Despite a late attempt by Mariano Fernandez Oro, which was saved by Everett's goalie Domingo Gallegos, the Tritons were unable to respond offensively. The half closed with a 7-0 deficit for Edmonds.

Neumeyer recorded four saves while facing 11 shots on goal. Cohen Ludwig-Matute attempted one shot during the match. Fernandez Or took two shots, with one being on target.

Six sophomores played in their final home match and were celebrated at halftime: Jack Neumeyer, Gael Beltran Garcia, Emir Romo, Omar Kongira, Mariano Fernandez Oro, and Isaac Narvaez.

Edmonds will go on the road to Bellingham and face Whatcom on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
