Bombs away: Tritons sweep Raiders

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Edmonds College (12-1, 4-0) secured two wins over over Pierce College (6-8, 2-2) at Triton Field on Wednesday night.

In the first game the Tritons capitalized on their offensive prowess with three home runs, helping to seal the win in just five innings, 11-1. In the first inning, the Raiders took an early lead as Hallie Beers scored unearned on an error. Edmonds quickly responded when Aliya Boonsripisal scored on a double by Scarlette Chapman, followed by Chapman's unearned run on an error, closing the inning with a 2–1 lead.

The second inning saw the Tritons extend their lead as Boonsripisal and Shelby Baguio reached base ahead of Telisha Sayles's three-run homer. Chapman then added a solo home run, bringing the score to 6–1.

In the fourth inning, Edmonds further increased its lead. Boonsripisal and Sayles both scored on a single by Hannah Worth. Olivia Collins hit a three-run homer, scoring Worth and Chapman, and the game ended 11-1 after five innings due to the run rule. 

Collins delivered a complete game performance, pitching 5 innings with no earned runs allowed, securing a 1.00 WHIP. She faced 21 batters and allowed only 2 hits while striking out 3 and issuing 3 walks. Her pitching effort was complemented by her contributions at the plate, where she hit a home run and drove in 3 runs. 

Sayles hit a home run, driving in three runs and scoring twice in the game. Chapman recorded two hits, including a double and a home run, contributing three runs and two RBIs. Boonsripisal crossed the plate three times and reached base with two walks.

In the second game it took a five-run sixth inning to earn the 8-4 triumph. Edmonds tallied 12 hits in the nightcap. Aliya Boonsripisal opened the scoring for Edmonds with a home run in the first inning, tying the game after Pierce scored on a double by Audrey Deviney. 

In the third inning, Scarlette Chapman tripled, and Madison McMillan drove her in with a single, giving Edmonds a 2-1 lead.

Pierce responded in the fourth inning with a two-run homer by Amelia Lopez, taking a 3-2 lead. By the end of the fourth inning, the score was 3-2 in favor of Pierce.

Edmonds tied the game in the fifth inning when Olivia Collins doubled, allowing McMillan to score, making it 3-3. Pierce added another run in the same inning to regain the lead, 4-3.

The sixth inning saw Edmonds reclaim the lead decisively. Shelby Baguio started the inning with a single. Chapman followed with a single, bringing Baguio home. McMillan's double drove in two more runs, and an error allowed Hannah Worth to score, making it 7-4. Leda Lesher grounded out but brought in another run, ending the inning at 8-4 for Edmonds. Collins hurled the final two frames to earn her second win of the day in the circle. 

Chapman started in the circle and went five innings recording six strikeouts. Boonsripisal hit a home run and recorded three assists in the field. Baguio collected two hits and scored one run while also drawing a walk. Chapman added a triple among her two hits, scored twice, and drove in one run. McMillan tallied three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs.

In their next games, Edmonds will face Douglas College on Saturday, March 21, at 12 noon.
