Edmonds women take first battle in "T" Trophy series

LYNNWOOD -- A strong second half propelled Edmonds past Everett on Wednesday night, 72-44. The Tritons built a seven point lead at the half and hit the gas in the third quarter, outscoring the Trojans 25-7. Edmonds capitalized at the charity stripe, shooting 86% and used a pressure defense to force 27 Everett turnovers.

Dreanna Jackson had the hot hand early, scoring 7 points in the first quarter; she finished with a double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds). Kayanna Jackson poured in 16, and Ava Uusitalo (11 points) and Saydee Heslop reached double-digits (10 points). It was Heslop's first action of the season.

Edmonds (1-0, 6-7) will face the always tough Peninsula Pirates (1-0, 9-2) in Port Angeles on Saturday. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
