Late Triton rally falls short

LYNNWOOD -- Despite a late fourth quarter rally, Edmonds was unable to complete the comeback bid and fell to Bellevue 79-73.

The two squads went to the locker rooms tied 39-39, but Bellevue started to pull away midway through the fourth quarter. That's when the Tritons mustered an 11-0 run and eventually took the lead back, 71-69. Alexa Munoz had a very solid game and was aggressive offensively; she scored a season-high 20 points. Munoz was responsible for five straight points to help cut the deficit down late in the game. Trailing by two, Edmonds did have an opportunity with an offensive possession but couldn't convert. The Bulldogs iced the game with free thows on the other end.

Jenaly Gabriel had two clutch three-pointers during the run and finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Kayanna Jackson poured in 14, and Saydee Heslop added 12 points (all in the first half) but was limited in the second half due to foul trouble. Bellevue guard Devynn Warns was a thorn in the Tritons side for the second time this year -- she scored a game-high 36 points.

Edmonds (12-13, 7-6 North) is out of contention for the postseason but can play spoiler for seeding when they travel to Bremerton to face Olympic College (19-8, 9-4 North) on Feburary 26.
