Keeper Ishikawa named NWAC Defensive POTW
Edmonds College women's soccer sophomore Amaris Ishikawa was honored as the NWAC women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announed by the conference office on October 1. Ishikawa has been a stalwart in goal this season for the squad and has anchored the defense. In her last two matches she notched two clean sheets at Everett (2-0 win) and vs. Whatcom (1-0). The keeper saved 10 goals total in those two matches, including seven against Everett. She is currently ranked fifth overall in the NWAC with 61 saves.
Ishikawa has been a big reason for the program's turnaround this season. After the first round of region play, Edmonds finds themselves squarely in playoff contention in a three-way tie with Whatcom and Skagit Valley for second place in the standings.
