Edmonds cruises to victory in first tilt
LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Edmonds (1-0) took the victory over Futures Prep in their season opener, 119-83. The Tritons dominated the game with 76 points in the paint and a 51-18 advantage in total rebounds.
Edmonds opened the half with a layup from Sebastian Cooper and quickly established control with strong inside play. The team capitalized on second-chance opportunities, notably building a 14-point lead by 8:27 through effective offensive rebounding and scoring in the paint. Despite Prep's attempts to close the gap with multiple three-pointers, the Tritons maintained their advantage by consistently converting layups and utilizing a balanced scoring effort. The half concluded with a three-pointer from Sam Lockhart as the buzzer sounded, giving the Tritons a 51–37 lead.
Edmonds extended their lead significantly in the second half, with Landon Shaw's layup at 16:53 contributing to a 6-point increase. Shaw's scoring efforts, combined with Isiah Lopez's offensive rebounds and layups, bolstered the Tritons' dominance in the paint, ultimately achieving a 42-point differential at the 4:06 mark. Edmonds maintained their advantage, closing out the half with a 68–46 edge, and the game concluded with a decisive 119–83 victory for the Tritons.
Shaw led the Tritons with 23 points, converting 9 of 11 free throws and grabbing seven rebounds. Kyrylo Kapinos contributed 17 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field and collected four rebounds in addition to a couple monster slams. Avidan West added 15 points, going a perfect 7 for 7 from the floor and dished out four assists. Lockhart scored 12 points, hitting four 3-pointers and securing two steals.
Edmonds will head to Pierce College this weekend for the Raider Holiday Classic. They get the host Raiders on Friday at 8 p.m.
