Triton men fall short to Dolphins, 2-0

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Edmonds (0-7-1, 0-4-1) fell to Shoreline (4-6-2, 2-4) in a 2-0 defeat on Wednesday, with Shoreline's defense securing a shutout.

The first half began with Edmonds actively seeking opportunities to challenge Shoreline's defense. Omar Ishtaiwi took an early shot that went wide, and Tucker Stephens tested Shoreline's goalkeeper Kenzo Surget twice, with both efforts saved. Edmonds continued to press forward, earning multiple corner kicks, but were unable to capitalize on these chances.

Midway through the period, Shoreline's Shaqir Diallo broke the deadlock, scoring the first goal in the 33rd minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. Despite Edmonds' continued efforts, including a wide shot by Levi Martinez, the team was unable to find the back of the net before the end of the first half. The period concluded with Shoreline leading 1-0.

The second half commenced with Edmonds showing resilience as Jack Neumeyer made several crucial saves. Neumeyer successfully stopped three consecutive shots from Shoreline within the first ten minutes, keeping the score tight. Despite the defensive efforts, Shoreline managed to break through with a goal by Taiga Sannomiya in the 84th minute, extending their lead.

Edmonds continued to seek opportunities to alter the course of the game, with shots from David Phan and Angel Jimenez testing Shoreline's defense, though they did not find the back of the net. The period closed with Edmonds trailing 2-0, as Shoreline maintained their advantage into the final whistle.

Jack Neumeyer recorded five saves for Edmonds, facing seven shots on target. Tucker Stephens managed to put both of his two shots on goal, applying pressure on the opposing defense. Ishtaiwi contributed with two shots, one of which was on target, adding to the team's offensive efforts.

Edmonds fell to 0-7-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the North Region. Shoreline improved to 4-6-2 overall and 2-4 in the North.

Looking ahead, the Edmonds soccer team will travel to Bellevue on October 8. The match is set to kick off at 2 p.m.
