T-Trophy Draw: Edmonds earns draw against Everett

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Edmonds College (6-6-2, 3-5-2) played to a 2-2 draw against Everett Community College (4-8-1, 2-7-1) at Triton Field on Wednesday.

The match began with both teams testing the waters, but it was Edmonds who capitalized first. Gizelle Serrano broke through for the Tritons in the 17th minute, finding the back of the net after a corner kick by Philicidy Lee to give the home team the lead. Amaris Ishikawa played a crucial role in maintaining this advantage, making multiple saves throughout the half, including crucial stops against shots from Everett's Maki Quiyono Wong and Gisela Chavez.

Edmonds continued to apply pressure, executing several corner kicks and maintaining a sturdy defense. Despite Everett's attempts to equalize, the first half concluded with Edmonds ahead, holding a 1-0 lead into the break.

The second half began with a defensive stand from the Tritons, as Ishikawa made key saves against early shots from Everett. The momentum shifted when Everett's Chloe Parker scored in the 60th minute.

Edmonds responded with a near-miss from Lee, whose shot hit the crossbar, and continued to pressure with attempts from Aliya Boonsripisal. Despite Everett extending their lead with a goal by Maleah Kirk, Edmonds remained resilient.

In the closing stages, the Tritons found the equalizer when Haylie Thomas scored, assisted by Aidyn McIntosh off a corner kick in the 85th minute. The half concluded with a flurry of activity from both teams, but the score remained level at 2-2 at the final whistle.

Amaris Ishikawa recorded 11 saves, maintaining a strong presence in goal for Edmonds, and turned away the potential game-winning shot in stoppage time. McIntosh contributed with an assist, showcasing her ability to facilitate play. Thomas found the back of the net with her lone shot, while Serrano also scored, converting one of her two shots on goal.

Edmonds holds a record of 6-6-2 overall and 3-5-2 in conference play. Everett stands at 4-8-1 overall and 2-7-1 in conference competition.

A large sophomore class of 11 players were honored at halftime of the match: Amaris Ishikawa, Alyssa Castillo, Aliya Boonsripisal, Ella Caldwell, Kari Adams, Saige Palazzotto, Yetlanezi Yaxpak-Keiper, Emmalynn Kuenning, Brandee Marie Agualo, Gizelle Serrano, and Philicidy Lee.

Looking ahead, Edmonds will be at Whatcom on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match is set for a 2:15 p.m. start.
