The streak continues: Edmonds defeats Everett in three sets

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Edmonds (26-1, 6-0) cruised to a straight-set victory over Everett (9-15, 4-2) on Wednesday at Seaview Gym, winning 25-12, 25-18, 25-16. Edmonds' efficient attack was highlighted by a .343 hitting percentage in both the first and third sets.

Edmonds began the first set with a steady performance, quickly responding to Everett's initial point with a kill from Haley Yost, assisted by Abby Barrow. The team maintained momentum with a series of effective plays, including a kill by Olivia Miller and a service ace by Alondra Zambrano, pushing the score to 6-2 in favor of the hosts.

As the set progressed, the Tritons continued to capitalize on Everett's attack errors, with notable contributions from Kaydence Green and Barrow, extending their lead to 15-7. Defensive stops and a service ace by Barrow further solidified their advantage.

Edmonds closed the set decisively with a kill from Green and an error by Everett's Jessica Eames, securing a 25-12 finish.

Edmonds capitalized on a series of Everett errors to seize control early in the second set. A key block by Miller contributed to a 5-0 run, which pushed Edmonds ahead 8-3. The team extended their lead with effective kills from Yost and Malique Sweet, leading to a 14-7 advantage.

Everett responded with a strong sequence, narrowing the gap to 16-16, aided by a service ace from Katie Burkholder. Edmonds regained momentum with a decisive block from Kamaleimahie Auwae and timely kills from Yost and Miller. The set concluded with Edmonds securing a 25-18 victory, closing on a 7-2 run.

Edmonds initiated the third set with a strong start, securing the first two points through a kill by Yost and an Everett attack error. The home team maintained momentum with key contributions from Miller and Yost, building a 5-1 lead. Despite some resistance from Everett, including a service ace, Edmonds extended their advantage to 7-4 with effective kills from Meredith Moszeter.

As the set progressed, the teams exchanged points, with Edmonds responding to Everett's efforts to close the gap. Key plays from Green and Yost helped Edmonds maintain a narrow lead, reaching 12-11. The turning point came when Sweet and Green delivered consecutive kills, allowing the Tritons to pull ahead 16-15.

Edmonds closed the set decisively, executing a commanding 9-1 run, highlighted by strong efforts from Sweet and Lizzie Takau. The home team capitalized on Everett errors, concluding the set with a kill by Miller to secure a 25-16 victory.

Yost led the match with 13 kills and contributed defensively with 15 digs. Zambrano excelled in the back row, collecting 17 digs and serving two aces. Miller hit efficiently, finishing with seven kills and a .545 attack percentage, while also adding two solo blocks. Barrow orchestrated the offense with 17 assists and added six digs to her performance.

Edmonds holds a dominant overall record of 26-1 and an unblemished 6-0 mark in conference play. Everett has compiled a 9-15 overall record, with a 4-2 record in the conference.

The next challenge for the Tritons is at Shoreline on October 22. The match starts at 7 p.m.
